CHPE Module 2 – Day 4 Highlights
Day 4 of the Assessment Module was an enriching blend of theory, application, and experiential learning, keeping participants actively engaged throughout the sessions. The day commenced with an insightful session by Dr. Sumera Saeed on Standard Setting. The session emphasized the importance of establishing valid, reliable, and defensible standards in assessments. Through an interactive approach, participants were introduced to key concepts and principles underlying standard setting. This was followed by a hands-on group activity where participants applied the Angoff and Ebel methods. Working collaboratively, they critically analyzed assessment items and practiced determining cut-off scores, which significantly enhanced their understanding of objective and structured evaluation processes. The second session was conducted by Dr. Saba Shahid on Workplace-Based Assessments (WPBA). The session highlighted the role of WPBA in assessing real-time clinical performance and competency in authentic settings. Various tools were discussed, with a focus on Mini-CEX and DOPS. The session concluded with engaging roleplays, where participants simulated real clinical scenarios and practiced both assessment and feedback skills. This practical exercise provided valuable insight into effective observation, structured evaluation, and constructive feedback in clinical education. Overall, the day was highly interactive, skill-oriented, and impactful—equipping participants with essential tools to design and implement robust assessment strategies in health professions education. 👏
